KB Homes has had a fascination with detective work since he was a boy. His first books, when he began to read, were Arthur Conan Doyle’s work on Sherlock Holmes, and while he wasn’t borne KB Homes, he changed his name as soon as he was able.

And while he understand the necessity of crime scene investigations and forensics, and their like, he is much more fascinated with the methods that are espoused in the classics. He is more fascinated with the art of observation, with figuring people out based on deducing key things from the detritus that accrues on their person.

He is also an avid fan of old-fashioned manliness. He is an avid reader of the Art of Manliness website, and strives to incorporate as much of it into his lifestyle as he can. Because many of those standards are applied in the Doyle works as well, he is naturally drawn to them. These include such things as shaving with a straight razor and burying gold in his backyard.

And no, none of you can have it.

He enjoys depictions of Holmes in films, but thinks that not all of them do it the best. And even then, if the depiction is good, it doesn’t mean that the movie is any good, and he finds himself often having to defend some fairly okay films that should have been great.

Like the most recent Sherlock Holmes film with Robert Downey Jr. His portrayal of the great detective is quite good, capturing the manic edge that is surely of Holmes. But Guy Ritchie didn’t make that great a film. KB Homes knows that, and he doesn’t like having to make a defense for the film.

When not busy solving crimes before the police, he can be found on a porch, smoking a pipe, or playing the violin.
